Winki the Ripper has been awarded by SoftPedia with a 5/5 pick. I have no idea if this does mean anything at all (they don't have other picks like 3/5 and this is kind of suspect), but anyway... It coulnd't be too bad (I hope :-)
Current version 0.4.5 uploaded Sep 9 2007 (take a look at the changelog for details)

public key fingerprint: 9FDB CD0B F383 1403 DCFD E781 9369 4CB7 77FC 3D4B
You can validate the signature after downloading the tarball and the detached gpg signature using the following commands:
gpg --keyserver wwwkeys.eu.pgp.net --recv-keys 77FC3D4B
gpg --verify winki-X.X.X.tar.gz.sig winki-X.X.X.tar.gz
The result should look like that:
gpg: Signature made Sun 04 Jun 2006 10:37:56 PM CEST using DSA key ID 77FC3D4B
gpg: Good signature from "Velko Hristov "

Or if you are Ubuntu user and haven't activated the root account use these commands:
Because of license reasons I'm not allowed to distribute binaries for the IMDB access utilities. You have to install them from source. Here you can find instructions how to do it.
WARNING: The installation of the debian package will trigger big download ( > 300 MB) and heavy computation. For the installed data bases you will need more than 600 MB in /usr/share.
If you wonder why I haven't implented online IMDB access in winki take a look at the IMDB FAQ. Yes I'm just as unhappy as you with this situation but I don't want to have to deal with the Amazon(tm) lawyers...
